For bright kids who find every day hard

You know your child is bright. So why is every day such a struggle?

Why does homework become a battle? Why is sitting still so hard? Why does nothing seem to stick? Why does the blank page keep winning? Why do small things feel so big? Why does everything go missing? Why doesn't reading seem to stick?

Homework battles, lost focus, big reactions to small things. And a child who is starting to believe they're just not clever enough.

You don't need a diagnosis to know something isn't clicking

It's a skills gap.
And skills can be built.

Attention, memory and processing speed sit under everything your child does. When those skills are underdeveloped, school and home feel harder than they should. Develop them, and life gets easier.

The old label
  • A disorder to manage
  • A child who feels less than
  • A focus on what's difficult
  • A label that can limit confidence
  • A family left guessing
The Vast approach
  • A profile to understand
  • A child who feels capable
  • A focus on skills that can be developed
  • Language that builds identity
  • A family with a plan
What Vast means

A better name for a brilliantly different mind: VAST

Not a label for what's wrong. A way of seeing what's there.

V Varied

Their attention moves fast. It notices more.

A Attention

Not absent. Abundant.

S Stunning

Creativity, energy and spark.

T Talent

Real potential, waiting to be developed.

The science

Built in the part of the brain that ties everything together.

Fixed traits Built skills
CEREBELLUM Attention Working memory Processing speed Reading fluency

The cerebellum was once thought to only manage balance and movement.

We now know it plays a central role in attention, working memory, processing speed and reading fluency. These are built skills, not fixed traits.

That's why the assessment has a balance session alongside memory, listening and attention, and why stimulating these skills can make school and home feel easier.

Vast Jr is an educational, skill-building programme. It does not diagnose or treat any medical or neurodevelopmental condition, and isn't a substitute for professional medical advice.

How skill development works

Not a disorder.
A skill that never finished developing.

Why some children try so hard and still find things difficult, and what we do about it.

01

The big idea

Most of what the world labels, diagnoses and medicalises (struggles with reading, attention, behaviour, learning, even overwhelm) is, we believe, something far simpler: skills that never finished developing.

Treat them as a disease, and the answer becomes a lifetime of labels and specialists. See them as unfinished skills, and the answer becomes simpler, cheaper and far more hopeful.

That is what Zing does. Think of it as restarting a developmental process that stalled, and seeing it through to completion.

Finish the development.
02

Why practice doesn't make perfect

The cerebellum is the brain's learning engine. It turns effort into automatic skill. When parts of it are underdeveloped, children try and try and try, and the skill never becomes effortless.

So they compensate consciously, and that clogs up the thinking brain, the very place where focus, short-term memory, decisions and emotional control live. The result is overwhelm, procrastination, worry and underperformance.

Fix the foundations and the whole building stands straighter.
03

What Vast Jr does

A personalised, app-delivered programme of about 10 minutes a day, roughly the time it takes to find the TV remote.

Assessments pinpoint where to focus. Exercises stimulate the vestibular system and cerebellum, and they are re-prescribed daily from your child's own results. A personalised coach supports and motivates throughout, and every 30 days our Insight assessment measures the gains.

A 90-Day Challenge gets children started; a continuation phase hardwires the results.

Peer-reviewed published studies, plus school studies in the UK and the US.

Children in care

Regarded as the hardest group of all to help. Across 19 schools, delivered by teachers, with an average of just 24 sessions, executive function, reading, writing and even sport all improved substantially.

10%+
Rise in measured intelligence

Independent statistical analysis of a cohort of 900, based on improvements in processing speed and working memory capacity. To our knowledge, no other programme has shown this.

Gains appear to last

Participants from 15 to 20 years ago report holding their gains, consistent with what is known about cerebellar change.

The science has caught up

When we started, critics said the research didn't exist. Today there are thousands of studies on the cerebellum's role in learning and behaviour, and research shows the kind of stimulation we use can increase cerebellar grey matter density.

How it works

A personalised coach, an app, about ten minutes a day.

1

Assess

A short assessment in the app maps which underlying skills, like attention, memory and processing speed, need building.

2

Coach and develop

A personalised coach sets up a plan for your child's profile. Your child develops their skills at home in short daily sessions in the app.

3

Track and celebrate

Progress is re-measured every few weeks on the same assessment, so you see the change, not just hope for it.

From parents

“There is more space in my brain.”

What one 13-year-old said when his mum asked what he'd noticed.

My son was behind with his reading. Now his reading has improved so much! He also tells me that he finds it much easier to understand all subjects at school.

Yara GrantGoogle review

After consistently using the Zing Performance program for 3 months she says that she is enjoying reading, her balance has greatly improved, and her overall confidence is better.

Betsy WittGoogle review

Zing has been a gamechanger for my 13-year old son. When I asked him what he had noticed since starting the program, he simply said, ‘There is more space in my brain.’

Krista JackGoogle review

She has improved considerably her reading and comprehension skills. But she is also more responsible, more organized and more confident and now she is really enjoying school every day!

Leda ArdeleanuGoogle review

Learning has always been a struggle for her, especially under the pressure of exams, but Zing has completely turned that around.

Yvonne J FoxGoogle review

My son has been doing Zing for three months now and I’m over the moon about his improvements! His attention has developed, his comprehension has skyrocketed and he is more organized.

Questions parents ask
What is Vast Jr?

Vast Jr is an educational, skill-building app for children, made by Zing Performance. A free assessment shows which underlying skills, like attention, working memory, listening, processing speed and balance, are still developing. Short daily sessions of about ten minutes then help develop them, with a new assessment every 30 days to show what's changing.

What ages is Vast Jr for?

Children and teenagers aged 6 to 18. A parent or guardian sets up the account and stays in charge of it.

Is this right for my child?

It's built for bright, capable children whose everyday life feels harder than it should: instructions that don't stick, reading without recall, the blank page, big reactions to small frustrations.

Do we need a diagnosis first?

No. Some families come with a diagnosis, some are waiting, some just want a practical starting point. Vast is educational, not a diagnostic service.

How much time does it take each day?

Around ten minutes in the app, plus an assessment at the start and a review every few weeks.

What does the coach actually do?

They walk you through the results, set up a personal plan, check in through the programme and help you keep going on the weeks it's hard.

What if we miss days?

Nothing bad happens. The programme adapts and your coach picks it up with you. Families miss days. It's built for that.

Does this replace school support or professional care?

No. Vast works alongside your school, your GP and anyone else involved in your child's care.
